JDRF Position Statement on CGM Coverage by Health Insurers
An independent study of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use funded by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation found that patients with type 1 diabetes who consistently used CGM devices experienced significant improvements in blood sugar control, and were more likely to achieve medical guidelines recommended for people with diabetes - outcomes that significantly lower the risk of devastating and costly diabetes complications.
Based on these results, JDRF believes health insurers should offer CGM coverage to all people with type 1 diabetes who are intensively managing their disease and are prescribed CGM by their physician.
